Biography
Tracey Ali has lived in Clarington for fourteen years. Her grandparents, Martin and Sidonia Prazienka, moved to Clarington in the 1950's and still many of her relatives reside in Clarington. Tracey enjoys living in Clarington and likes to take an active role in the community that she lives in. Tracey is the eldest of six children, born and raised in Oshawa. She holds two university degrees: a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Studies from Trent University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree in Film & Video Production from York University. She is happily married to Reaza for 22 years and has two teenagers whom she loves to spend time with.
Tracey Ali works local, shops local, worships local and plays local. Tracey knows Clarington; she has lived in Ward 1, Ward 2 and now she resides in Ward 3 for the second time. When not working she enjoys volunteering for many local community and school organizations and likes to partake in local festivals and events. On Sunday mornings she attends Hope Fellowship Church in Courtice with her family.
In 2011 Tracey Ali was appointed to the Clarington Public Library Board and was the Chair of the CPL Finance Committee for three years and is currently a Finance Committee member. She was also appointed to the Clarington Heritage Committee and currently holds the position of Vice Chair. She is an active member of the Clarington Visual Arts Centre, sits on the Doors Open Clarington Planning Committee and is the President of the ACO Clarington branch because of her love for culture, the arts and local history preservation. Tracey was the co-manager at the Bibles for Missions Thrift Store in downtown Bowmanville for over one year. She was involved in volunteer retention/relations, performing administrative duties, promotions and staff training. Now she is employed part time by a local Canadian company. She is the Administrative Assistant at Vitamost, a small but growing company. Her second part time job is teaching private piano lessons to children and adults. Furthermore, Tracey loves volunteering and serving others in the community that she lives in...she has a servant's heart.
If elected Tracey Ali is prepared to work full time for the constituents of Ward 3, her neighbours. She will have regular office hours at town hall and will make a point to be out in Ward 3 frequently to listen to her constituents concerns and dreams for Bowmanville and Clarington. Accessibility is key to being a good councillor. She is willing to do the necessary research on important issues and voice the concerns of the citizens of Clarington at Council meetings. Tracey wants to serve her community and become a public servant.
Tracey is concerned about the environment and believes we should strive to make Clarington a greener and more sustainable community. We need to increase our recycling program by setting up visible recycling bins in parks and set a garbage free policy for all public buildings and events...let's lead by example. She wants to see more jobs created in Clarington by attracting new businesses to our municipality. Tourism is also an opportunity for increased revenue to our municipality. We need to promote our heritage and cultural sites and look into increasing cycle tourism in Clarington. Tracey is concerned about heritage building preservation and has been working with the local ACO Clarington group to preserve POW Camp 30. In 2013 Camp 30 was awarded a National Historic Site designation and was placed on Heritage Canada's Top Ten Endangered Places list by a nomination from Tracey Ali. Fortunately the Jury Lands Foundation, previously known as the Camp 30 Foundation, has been recently established and their first meeting was in January 2014. Tracey Ali was part of the Camp 30 Foundation Selection Committee as an ACO representative.
Tracey is health minded and the Bowmanville Hospital is important to her. She will help fight to keep it open if necessary. The health of the community is important to her too. At Town Hall we need to make decisions that will improve the physical, emotional and mental health of our Clarington citizens. We need to be good stewards of our local environment and farm lands. Tracey is a good listener, has great people skills, and is blessed with the gifts of administration and diplomacy. When possible she attends both Council and GPA meetings so she is up-to-date on the current issues and decisions.
